Position Type: Special Education/ Social Worker Kearsley Community Schools is seeking a highly qualified and motivated School Social Worker to join our dedicated team of educators. This position is available for the 2026-2027 academic year, with an anticipated start date the week of August 17. The Kearsley Board of Education will offer the successful candidate an annual salary in accordance with the KEA Master Agreement, commensurate with skills and experience. Key projects include: A new community recreation facility with a 1,500-seat competitive gym, indoor track, and training spaces Enhanced STEM and Robotics spaces and flexible classroom designs Secure, redesigned entrances for all elementary schools Position Requirements Education & Certification Master's Degree in School Social Work. Current temporary or full approval as a school social worker in the State of Michigan, or the ability to earn this certification. Skilled in interviewing, individual and group treatment practices. Demonstrated expertise in methodologies and best practices in working with students with emotional & behavioral challenges. Demonstrate leadership and autonomy in working with students, parents/guardians, teachers, staff and community agencies. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications. Ability to make decisions in accordance with board policies and established procedures. Demonstrate mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the requirements of this position. Skills & Responsibilities The qualified candidate will: Provide direct school social work services to referred students. Assist students whose emotional, behavioral and/or social challenges interfere with their ability to obtain maximum benefit from their educational program. Act as liaison between parents/guardians, school and public and private agencies responsible for student care and services. Identify academic problems through analysis of factors impinging on student adjustment including factors in the home, school, and community. Determine and implement appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in behavioral/social interactions of students and their families. Provide ongoing consultation and/or training to teachers and administrators regarding students with emotional, behavioral and/or social challenges. Develop pertinent, measurable annual goals and short-term benchmarks for caseload students. Collect, analyze and interpret meaningful behavior data. Provide consultation to teachers and principals regarding accessible community resources. May make home visits for family consultation. Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop student behavior intervention plans. Active participation in assigned building and district MTSS/PBIS initiatives. Maintain appropriate confidential records on each student assigned to caseload. Represent the district on various community services agencies and professional organizations as appropriate to assignment. Perform other related duties as assigned.
