Postdoctoral Position at Yale School of Public Health

A postdoctoral position is available with Senior Research Scientist Kerri Raissian in the Department of Health Policy & Management at the Yale School of Public Health. Dr. Raissian is a quantitative, social policy researcher who uses causal research techniques to identify strategies to improve the criminal justice system response to domestic violence and firearm injury. This postdoctoral fellowship is supported by a grant from Arnold Ventures related to further establishing a grant pipeline in criminal justice interventions.

The position is housed within a rapidly growing team at YSPH focused on injury and violence prevention—led by Dr. Raissian, Dr. Christopher Morrison, Dr. Magdalena Cerda (Chair, Chronic Disease Epidemiology), and Dr. Megan Ranney (Dean, YSPH)—and will include opportunities of collaboration with other investigators within YSPH and across Yale University.

The Postdoctoral Associate will receive training and mentorship in grant writing, causal methods, and establishing research partnerships. They will have structured opportunities to develop their proposal writing, methodological skills, and content expertise in the science of injury and violence prevention. The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to lead and co-author manuscripts and applications for extramural funding, to continue their research currently in progress, and to develop new research ideas related to injury and violence prevention.

Salary will be based on the Yale Postdoctoral Compensation policy. Support for travel to conferences and professional development activities are available.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree from an accredited institution by the start of the appointment. The successful applicant will have a background in causal methods and quantitative techniques. A PhD in in economics, public policy, public health, or related field is required. Highly desirable is demonstrated expertise in domestic violence, crimes related to firearms, or violence prevention.
